After winning the toss and bowling first, Sophie Devine nabbed the first breakthrough in the fifth over, removing Beth Mooney for six.
It was Grace Harris (47) and Josie Dooley (48 not out) who did the most damage with the bat for the Heat, getting their side to a competitive total of 7/160.
Both Devine and Megan Schutt took two wickets, with one of Schutt's dismissals thanks to a spectacular catch behind the stumps from stand-in 'keeper Bridget Patterson.
An excellent start to the chase from Suzie Bates (31) and Devine (39) had the Strikers at 0/75 before the first wicket fell.
But the Strikers struggled to increase the run-rate and a series of low-scoring middle overs and a flurry of wickets meant the Heat successfully held them back.
Tahlia McGrath (14) posted the next highest score with the bat, while Megan Schutt (10 not out) and Sarah Coyte (1 not out) saw the side through the last few balls, finishing on 7/117.
The Strikers will take on Hobart Hurricanes back in Adelaide at Karen Rolton Oval on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:40pm. Entry is free and matches will be live-streamed on cricket.com.au and via the CA Live app.
