Afghanistan Men's team are touring Sri Lanka to participate in a 3 match ODI series starting on the 2nd of June. The third and the final ODI will be played on the 7th of June, 2023.

All of the matches will be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. All of the matches will be day games.

Afghanistan previously toured Sri Lanka last year for a 3 match series that was tied up at 1-1.

Left handed batter Hashmatullah Shahidi will be leading the visitors during the tour. The selection committee have named a strong 15 member squad for the series. The young all rounder Abdul Rahman has made a comeback into the squad on the back of some phenomenal performances in the domestic circuit.

According to the Afghanistan Cricket Board Chair Mirwais Ashraf, "It's good to have a couple of young faces for the series; the build-up for the ICC Cricket World Cup has already begun, and we are looking for every possible opportunity to build a good combination of the team and prepare them well for the event".

Sri Lanka have had a very challenging white ball cricket season. They have failed to directly qualify for the ICC 50 overs World Cup to be held in India. The series will serve as a great practice ground for the hosts ahead of the Qualifiers to be held in Zimbabwe.
