ICC T20 WC: Rain forces Afghanistan and Ireland to share points
Afghanistan's second successive game was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Consistent rain lashed Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ensured that play could not start on time.
There was meant to be a inspection at 4 pm Melbourne time. But the rain was so much that the umpires could not step out for an inspection. Finally, at 4.33 pm Melbourne time, the umpires conveyed to the two captains that the match had been abandoned.
For Ireland it was a deflating finish because they were coming in after beating England by five runs via DLS method.
