Ireland 203-2 (Porterfield 76) beat
United Arab Emirates 202 (Anwar 48) by eight wickets
Second One-Day International in Dubai
Ireland sealed a comfortable eight wicket win chasing a target of 203 runs after William Porterfield and Andy Balbirnie notched half-centuries in the second One-Day International against United Arab Emirates in Dubai to wrap up the series 2-0.
UAE won the toss and decided to bat first. Double strike from Andy McBrine (3-42) came after Craig Young (3-48) castled Mohammad Naveed (4) early as the home team were reduced to 43 for three.
Shaiman Anwar (48) and Rameez Shahzad (41) provided some stability to the innings with their 76-run stand but both batsmen failed to cross the fifty-run mark.
Muhammad Usman (29) and Adnan Mufti (15) tried to get going but regular strike from Ireland meant UAE were bowled out for 202 runs in 47.5 overs. Young and McBrine were the pick of Ireland bowlers with three wickets each to their name.
Ireland had a perfect start to the chase with Porterfield (76) and Paul Stirling (41) adding a 94-run opening stand off 126 deliveries.
Imran Haider (1-43) provided some respite for UAE with the wicket of Stirling but Porterfield added another 58-run partnership wtih Balbirnie (58 not out) to put Ireland on course of a victory.
Despite, the wicket of Porterfield, Ireland managed to comfortably overhaul the target in 41.5 overs with eight wickets in hand to win the two-match series 2-0. Porterfield once again bagged the player of the match.
