Sixth game, Bangladesh Premier League, Sylhet
Upul Tharanga slammed his third consecutive half-century while Abul Hasan and Liam Plunkett picked three wickets apiece as Sylhet Sixers registered a 33 run victory over Rajshahi Kings in the sixth game of the Bangladesh Premier League in Sylhet.
Chasing 206 to win the game, Luke Wright (56) and Mominul Haque (24) got Rajshahi off to a flying start of 49 for naught in the first five overs but a double strike from Plunkett (3-29) saw the latter and Rony Talukdar (0) dismissed.
Wright tried to keep the momentum going but once again Rajshahi lost two wickets - Mushfiqur Rahim (11) and Samit Patel (0) saw them reduced to 81 for four at the halfway mark.
Wright completed a well compiled fifty while James Franklin (35) struck two each of sixes and boundaries in quick succession to keep the visitors afloat but Abul and Plunkett ensured Sylhet completed a 33 run victory - their third in the tournament.
Earlier, Upul Tharanga (50) and Andre Fletcher (48) got Sylhet off to a brilliant start of 101 runs in the 11th over and later the momentum was carry forwarded by brilliant cameos from Danushka Gunathilaka (42) and Ross Whiteley (25 not out) to take the total to 205 for six in the 20 overs.
