Amanda-Jade Wellington Spoke After Superb Super Over in rebel WBBL
The Adelaide Strikers have secured their second ever rebel WBBL finals berth after beating the Sydney Thunder on Sunday, thanks to a superbly bowled Super Over by Amanda-Jade Wellington.
The Thunder needed just one run from run ball to win but Sarah Coyte trapped Nida Dar lbw, causing a tie and forcing the Super Over.
Wellington held her nerve under pressure and went for just seven runs in the Super Over, which included a run out of the dangerous Rachel Priest, who had thumped 48 off 20 balls earlier.
In reply. big-hitting Kiwi Sophie Devine went on to face three balls and struck a four, a two and a single to win the match.
Earlier, Devine compiled her sixth half-century in seven matches and became the competition's leading run-scorer so far this campaign with 593 runs.Wellington starred with the ball over the weekend, taking 3/23 and 3/17 on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with the Strikers winning three games in five days on the road.
Wellington is now the leading wicket-taker for the Strikers this campaign with 16 at 15.87, the leg-spinner sitting in third place overall.
The side has now won five matches in a row, which is the most consecutive wins for the franchise since the WBBL's inception.
The Strikers have secured a place in finals and sit second on the ladder with two minor round matches remaining.
Both semi-finals and the final will take place in the same location, with the team that finishes top earning the right to host.
