Melbourne Stars 129-8 (Tye 5-23) by 13 runs
7th match, Big Bash League, Perth

Andrew Tye once again made an impact with the ball as Perth Scorchers restricted Melbourne Stars to 129 for eight in a chase of 143 runs in the seventh game of the Big Bash League at WACA.

Chasing just above seven an over, Melbourne Stars were dented early when Mitchell Johnson (1-24) had Ben Dunk (6) caught in the slips in the third over.

Tye (5-23) further dented Stars' chances with a double strike in the fifth over that saw the back of Peter Handscomb (8) and Luke Wright (21) while Jhye Richardson (1-26) castled Glenn Maxwell (4) and Stars were down to 40 for four in the powerplay.

Marcus Stoinis (13), Rob Quiney (25) and James Faulkner (35 not out) tried consolidating the innings but Tye returned back to pick three more wickets including two in the final over as the Scorchers fell 14 runs short of the target. In the process, Tye also completed a five-wicket haul as Perth completed two wins in as many games.

Earlier, Melbourne Stars won the toss and invited Perth Scorchers to bat first. Faulkner (2-19) struck twice in his first two overs to dismiss both William Bosisto (4) and Michael Klinger (1) while Michael Beer (1-14) castled Ashton Turner (0) to leave them reeling at 10 for three.

However, Hilton Cartwright (58) consolidated the innings and was assisted by Adam Voges (35) and Ashton Agar (33 not out) to help them resurrect and post 142 for six in the 20 overs.
