Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews will continue to remain on the sidelines and will miss the upcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh.
Mathews, whose career was hampered with a series of injuries in the last few years pulled out of the recently completed tri-series involving Zimbabwe with a hamstring trouble after playing just one game.
This will be the third consecutive tour Mathews was withdrawn after earlier missing out on tours of South Africa and India in the last one year.
It was in January, the 30-year-old was reappointed as the captain for the limited overs side and in his absence, Dinesh Chandimal was named the captain of the One-Day International side during the tri-series, which was won by Sri Lanka after they went on to defeat Bangladesh in the final.
Though Chandimal is unlikely to make it to the T20I side, the selectors may once again fall back on all-rounder Thisara Perera to lead the team in the upcoming two match series against Bangladesh that will be played in Dhaka and Sylhet on 15th and 18th February respectively.
