Ashleigh Gardner Speaks After ODI Series Against Pakistan
The Australian Women’s Cricket Team has recorder a 89-run win in the third and final match of its One-Day International Series against Pakistan in Kuala Lumper today.
Batting first, Australia posted 7-324 from 50 overs with most of the scoring done by opener Alyssa Healy (96), who fell painfully short of a century, and Ashleigh Gardner (62*) who posted her first ODI half-century.
In her 100th ODI and 200th match for Australia, Ellyse Perry (32) also made a handy contribution, while Beth Mooney (38) and Rachael Haynes (30) also chipped in.
In reply Pakistan reached 49 before Gardner struck, removing Muneeba Ali for 15. A number of Pakistani batters managed starts but a disciplined bowling effort from Sophie Molineux (1-16) and three wickets to Gardner (3-44) made it hard for the hosts to get any real momentum.
Fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck claimed 1-49 on debut, while Nicola Carey (1-23) also finished with a wicket as Pakistan was restricted to 7-235.
