Batting first, Auckland scored 184-4 mainly thanks to Craig Cachopa 71*, Daniel Bell-Drummond 30 and Mark Chapman 29 - Christi Viljoen 2-36 and Jacob Duffy 2-37 were the pick of the bowlers for Otago.

In reply, Otago managed to score 180-8, falling just short of a great run chase - Hamish Rutherford 37 and Ben Raine 33* top scoring with Ronnie Hira 2-41 , Mitchell McClenaghan 2-33 and Matthew Quinn 2-33, the stars with the ball for Auckland.
