Australia Assert Control On Day Two In Brisbane

Australia 551 for 4 declared (Clarke 145no, Hussey 133, Jaques 100) v Sri Lanka 31 for 2 (Lee 2-4) after day two in Brisbane. Centuries from Mike Hussey and Michael Clarke helped put Australia in control of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Brisbane as the pair shared a 245-run stand for the fourth wicket. Hussey scored 133 and Clarke an unbeaten 145 before Andrew Symonds smashed a swift 51 prior to a declaration with the score on 551. Phil Jaques' maiden Test century on day one set the home side up before Brett Lee made inroads to Sr Lanka's batting, taking the wickets of Sanath Jayasuriya (seven) and Michael Vandort (nought) to leave the tourists precariously placed at 31 for two at stumps.
