Australia secure spot in the CommBank T20 INTIL Tri-Series Final against India

Beth Mooney - 50 for Australia women today against England

Australia has secured its spot in the CommBank T20 INTIL Tri-Series Final against India on Wednesday with a 16-run victory over England at Junction Oval.

Losing the toss and batting first, Australia posted 7-132 largely through the efforts of opener Beth Mooney who compiled a 40-ball half-century.

Vice-captain Rachael Haynes chipped in with a crucial 24 off 21 balls to help Australia post a defendable total.

In reply, England got the score to 21 before speedster Tayla Vlaeminck (2-18) removed the dangerous Danni Wyatt (11) followed by Amy Jones two overs later.

Spinners Sophie Molineux (3-19) and Jess Jonassen (1-21) showed good discipline in the middle overs to restrict the scoring and ensure the wickets kept falling.

Katherine Brunt (23*) and Lauren Winfield (23) fought hard for England but it was to no avail with the visitors running out of overs, falling 17 runs short of the target.
