Australia take 1-0 lead in Ashes following 10-wicket win in Brisbane
Australia 328 & 173-0 (Warner 87no) beat
England 302 & 195 (Root 51) by 10 wickets
First Test, Brisbane, day five
David Warner and Cameron Bancroft looked in no trouble on the final day as Australia went on to complete a 10-wicket win chasing 170 in the final innings of the first Test in Brisbane and claim a 1-0 lead in the series.
Australia started the final day with a score of 114 for naught, needing 56 more runs to win the game. Even though some tight bowling, to begin with, did keep them in check, it was a matter of time the duo brought the 150 run partnership.
With three boundaries in the 50th over from Chris Woakes (0-46), Bancroft (82 not out) helped Australia complete the chase with Warner (87 not out) accompanying him till the end.
The 10-wicket win has given Australia a 1-0 lead in the five-match series with skipper Steven Smith bagging the player of the match for his unbeaten century in the first innings.
The two teams will head to Adelaide now where they will face each other in a day-night Test that kicks-off on 2nd December.
