Australia to tour Bangladesh for two Tests
The Bangladesh Cricket Board have announced the schedule of the two-match Test series against Australia, which will be played between 9th and 21st October, in Chittagong and Dhaka.
This will be the first time the two teams will face off in the longest format in more than nine years, after last featuring in a two-match series that ended in a 2-0 win in favour of Australia in 2006.
The 2006 series is most famous for Jason Gillespie, who scored a double-century in the second Test, coming in to bat as a night watchman, contributing to an innings victory.
This bilateral Test series will be accommodated between Australia’s ongoing tour of the United Kingdom and their home series against New Zealand which will begin on 5th November.
Australia, who arrive in Bangladesh on 28th September, will feature in a warm-up game against the BCB XI at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, from 3rd to 5th October.
The first Test will begin on 9th October at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, while the second Test is scheduled to get underway on 17th October at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Overall, this will be only the third bilateral Test series between Bangladesh and Australia, with the earlier two series taking place in 2003 and 2006.
