Tour game, Canberra, day three

After Tahlia McGrath and Erin Osborne shared five wickets between them to reduce Australia Women to 287 for nine in their second innings, ACT Invitational XI managed a score of 88 for three as the three-day tour game ended in a draw in Canberra.

Australia started the final day with a score of 126 for two but their batsmen were put to test with only Villani (70) going past the 50-run mark.

Ellyse Perry (0) had a rare duck but Rachael Haynes (25) and Alex Blackwell (45) made useful contributions on either side.

McGrath (3-8) and Osborne (2-33) pegged the momentum Australia had and had them down to 244 for nine before a 43 run stand for the final wicket with Amanda Wellington (33 not out) being the major contributor helped them post 287 for nine before the declaration came.

In the final innings, Schutt (2-9) had a terrific opening spell to dismiss Katie Mack (7) and McGrath (2) to restrict ACT Invitational XI to 17 for two before Hayley Jensen (24) and Osborne (23) resurrected the innings.

Wellington (1-10) did manage to get Osborne but the Invitational XI ended the game with a score of 88 for three. Australia will be hoping to address their batting concern which looked shaky apart from Beth Mooney's century in the first innings and Villani's 70 in the second innings.
