Bad light, Rain and Russell take Vancouver Knights to the Final of GLT20

Batting first, Vancouver Knights received a setback when Chris Gayle (8) was removed without scoring much. However, opener Chadwick Walton (45) and Ben Dunk added some quick runs.

Vancouver Knights 152/5 in 13 overs (Chadwick Walton 45, Ben Dunk 29, Andre Russell 36; Ali Khan 2-47) win by 13 runs by DLS method

Winnipeg Hawks 84/5 in 8.3 overs (Lendl Simmons 35; Fawad Ahmed 2-22)

When Dunk (29) got out, Andre Russell (36) further pressed the foot on the gas, blasting 36 runs off just 15 deliveries. Tim Southee with two sixes at the end helped Vancouver Knights score 152 for 5 in their curtailed 13 overrs. All bowlers went for runs without much success.

In reply, the onus was on Captain David Warner (0) as the match had been further curtailed due to bad light. Already chasing a stiff target, Winnipeg Hawks now needed to score at a run rate of about 13 from ball one.

In an attempt to do so, David Warner tried to go big on the very first ball of the innings and was dismissed by Tim Southee. Although Lendl Simmons (35) was successful in scoring some quick runs, no other batsman could do the job for the team.

As a result, the team could manage 84 for 5 in eight and half overs and lost by 13 runs. With this win, Vancouver Knights have reached the Final and will clash against the CWI B team.
