Hampshire 351-8 (Bailey 127) v Lancashire
County Championship Division One, Manchester, day one
George Bailey scored a fine century while Kyle Abbott remained unbeaten on 76 as Hampshire made recovery from 125 for five to end day one with a score of 351 for eight in the County Championship Division One clash in Manchester.
Hampshire, won the toss and decided to bat first. As James Anderson (1-74) went wicketless in his opening spell, Michael Carberry (14), Jimmy Adams (16) and Rilee Rossouw (4) fell early as Hampshire were left reeling at 38 for three.
James Vince (22) and skipper Bailey (127) struck together for a 69 run stand for the fourth wicket to take the score past the 100-run mark but a double strike from Luke Procter (2-49) once again dented Hampshire's momentum.
With Lewis McManus (15) and Gareth Berg (27) also dismissed, Hampshire's momentum was dented before Bailey added a 82 run stand with Abbott (76 not out), whose knock came at a strike rate of over 85 and had 12 boundaries in it to bring the 300-run mark.
Even though, Bailey fell at the stroke of stumps, Abbott ensured Hampshire finished the day at 351 for eight.
