Ball By Ball For Blind Spectators

Northants Cricket in conjunction with the Northamptonshire Association for the Blind are raising funds to introduce a ball by ball commentary at the County Ground. This will enable blind and partially sighted spectators to follow the play at all First Class fixtures played at Northampton. In order to highlight this exciting project and very worthwhile cause; on Sunday June 10th, when Northamptonshire play host to Worcestershire in the Friends Provident Trophy; The Northamptonshire Association for the Blind and Northants Cricket will be providing a demonstration of blind cricket during the interval. The Northants V.I.XI.N.S. Blind cricket team (who are the current British Blind Sport national league champions) will be assisted by members of the Northants Academy. A raffle and bucket collection will be taking place at the match in order to raise finances for this project. Barclaycard have kindly agreed to support the appeal, and if there are any other groups or businesses who would be interested in getting involved with this valuable project please contact Ellie Haig at Northants Cricket 01604 609268 or Anne Bentley, coach of the V.I.XI.N.S at Northamptonshire Association for the Blind 01604 719193. Once the equipment is purchased and installed volunteer describers will need to be recruited, if you wish to find out further information regarding this please contact Anne Bentley 01604 719193. © NCCC
