Bangladesh have left out experienced duo Mahmudullah and Mominul Haque in the 14-man squad for the upcoming first Test against Australia that begins on 27th August in Mirpur.

Mominul, who has played 22 Tests till now has been dropped for the first time since his debut in March 2013 after he managed just 232 runs from five matches, with an average of 23.20. In the recent tour of Sri Lanka, the 25-year-old scored just 12 runs in the solitary game.

Mahmudullah, on the other hand, is fresh from an unbeaten century against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy encounter that saw Bangladesh reach the semi-final but his form in the limited overs format did not quite convince the selectors on his selection in Test cricket where he averages under 25 in the six matches.

Apart from the duo, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Subhasis Roy and Rubel Hossain have also dropped out of contention from the squad that last featured in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Nasir Hossain and Shafiul Islam have made it to the squad as Bangladesh bid to build on their impressive home record.

Bangladesh squad for first Test:

Mushfiqur Rahim (capt & wk), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam, Mehedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Mosaddek Hossain, Nasir Hossain, Shafiul Islam
