Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by a scorching 50 runs at the CitiPower Centre, Melbourne, in the first of the BBL double headers today.

Perth Scorchers won the toss and decided to bat and Kurtis Patterson 54 and Colin Munro 40 gave the Scorchers a great platform to reach a challenging total of 180/8 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Melbourne Stars also started well putting on 78 for the 1st wicket, Joe Clarke 52 and Tom Rogers 32 going well. However, the run chase fell apart from there on in and the Stars were bowled out for just 130 in the 19th over - Tymal Mills 3-28 was the top wicket taker for the Scorchers.
