BCCI Set To Unveil Own Twenty20 League

Up until now, Australian speedster Glenn McGrath and former Kiwi skipper Stephen Fleming were linked to the Indian Cricket League (ICL) and it was widely speculated that they would join the ICL. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited them to attend a special meeting on Thursday in Delhi when it is all set to unveil plans for its own international Twenty20 league. According to highly placed sources close to the BCCI, they have been offered key roles for the Twenty20 competition as world cricket officials scramble to regain control of their game. McGrath's approach has come from an Indian agent acting on behalf of a new hastily organised competition which will be sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The ICC acting president Ray Mali, along with many nations representatives are attending the meeting today. However, David Morgan, the ECB chief and Malcolm Speed, the ICC CEO may not be able to attend, it is learnt here. Shane Warne, another legend is also tipped to join hands with Twenty20 league, however, it could not be confirmed whether he too has been invited for Thursday's meet. © Bipin Dani India Correspondent Cricket World 2007
