LIVE - Momentum Multiply Titans vs VKB Knights- Match 3

Momentum Multiply Titans lost their first match against Hollywoodbets Dolphins convincingly. They now have registered 1 loss from the lone game played so far in the tournament. Winning the toss, Titans decided to field first. Dayyan Galliem provided a double breakthrough early on by dismissing Marques Ackerman at 19 and Ruan de Swardt at 9.

The double strike put immense pressure on Dolphins. This is when David Miller came to the crease. He made a comeback to professional cricket after a long and would have been hoping to go big but to all his plight, he was dismissed for a golden duck by Thando Ntini. Junior Dala provided another blow in the form of Khaya Zondo to reduce the score to 79 for 4 in the 16th over.

Roelofsen and Andile Phehlukwayo then got together and resurrected the innings and contributed 54 runs for the 5th wicket. After the dismissal of Roelofsen, it was Senuran Muthusamy who took responsibility of taking the team out of turbid waters. He stitched an important partnership of 50 runs for the 6th wicket. Robbie Frylinck was superb towards the end as he scored 30 quick runs to ensure Dolphins reached a defendable total of 272 for 7 in 50 overs.

Chasing 272, Momentum Multiply Titans lost both their opening batsmen early on and they were reduced to 30 for 2 in the 9th over itself. Theunis de Bruyn and Rubin Hermann then got together and played cautiously to ensure there was no further fall of wicket. They partnered for 41 runs before the 3rd wicket fell. Bruyn was dismissed by Swardt and now the responsibility was over to the lower middle order batsmen. Grant Thomson and Sibonelo Makhanya lit a ray of hope in Titans camp by doing a partnership of 29 runs for the 5th wicket. However, the required run rate was always mounting higher and becoming out of reach for the Titans. Junior Dala and Dayyan Galliem perished in quick succession and the pressure was now completely on Titans. In the end, Thando Ntini and Junior Dala put on 56 runs partnership but it could not get Titans over the line as they finished with 196 from 50 overs, losing the match by 76 runs.

VKB Knights have also lost their first game against Hollywoodbets Dolphins.

After losing the toss, they were asked to field first. Dolphins had a shaky start as they lost Marques Ackerman early on. Grant Roelofsen carried his form from the last game and steadied the ship along with Ruan de Swardt to stitch a partnership of 90 runs for the 2nd wicket. After the dismissal of Swardt, David Miller came to the crease and he looked quite comfortable in knocking the ball around. Roelofsen and Miller were involved in a partnership of 74 runs for the 3rd wicket before the former was dismissed at 92 by Snyman.

David Miller held one end strong and combined with the lower middle order for vital partnerships. Just when Miller looked to tee off, he perished to Ferisco Adams after scoring a fluent 57 off 66 balls. Khaya Zondo, Andile Phehlukwayo and Senuran Muthusamy could not trouble the scorers much and were all dismissed cheaply. It was due to the batting effort by Robbie Frylinck that put Dolphins back on track towards reaching 290+. Frylinck scored 37 off 18 balls and Dolphins finished with 290 for 8 in their 50 overs.

VKB Knights lost their opener Jacques Snyman at 5 and they desperately needed a partnership to assure them of an easy passage in the powerplay overs. Andries Gous and Patrick Kruger did exactly that as they combined for a partnership of 57 runs for the 2nd wicket. Once Patrick Kruger was dismissed, Gous along with Petrus Van Biljon took the innings forward and accumulated another 64 runs for the 3rd wicket. At this point, Knights looked in a strong position with Ferhaan Behardien waiting to come to the crease. Both Gous and Biljon were dismissed in quick succession and Behardien took the responsibility of getting his team over the line. He scored a quick 45 off 41 deliveries but after he ran himself out, there was too much to do for the middle order. Prenelan Subrayen and Ruan de Swadt then cleaned up the lower order and bowled Knights out for 237 runs in the 47th over winning the match for Dolphins by 53 runs.

VKB Knights lost the plot after the 25th over of their innings. They should work on the mistakes committed and come out stronger in their next encounter against Titans.
