Brisbane Heat won the toss and decided to field and the Melbourne Stars’ Hilton Cartwright 79 (44) and Joe Clarke 85 (44) lit up the GABBA with a 151 run, 4th wicket partnership, after the Stars were in some trouble at 16/3, in the 3rd over. The Stars finished up on 207/9 off their 20 overs
In reply, the Heat were soon in trouble, in the run chase, at 12/2 in the first over. Chris Lynn 57 and Ben Duckett 54 then had a good partnership of 87. However, once they were out, the Heat batters imploded under the run rate pressure and fell short by 20 runs, scoring 187/9 - Qais Ahmad 3/26 and Brody Couch 3/34 were the main wicket takers for the Stars.
