Big Bash League 2021-22: Full squads, Fixtures & Preview: All you need to know

The 11th season of the Big Bash League kicks off on December 5, Sunday, with the clash between defending champions Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars.

As always, eight teams will come up against each other across 61 games in the round-robin format, followed by the knockout matches. 56 group matches will be played over just 46 days.

The knockout stage comprises five matches - the Eliminator, the Qualifier, the Knockout, the Challenger and ultimately, the big Final, which will be played on January 28, Friday.

Aaron Finch (Renegades), Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa (Stars), Matthew Wade (Hurricanes) and Mitch Marsh and Ashton Agar (Scorchers) are the big-ticket Aussie players who will be taking part in the competition.

Unlike the WBBL, several English stars will also ply their trade in the competition - Alex Hales and Sam Billings (both Thunder), Chris Jordan, Tom Curran and James Vince (all Sixers) returning and some new faces such as Harry Brook (Hurricanes), Ben Duckett (Heat), and Reece Topley (Renegades) among others.

The last season of the Big Bash League was won by the Sydney Sixers who easily beat Perth Scorchers by 28 runs, making it back-to-back titles for the Sixers.

The Sixers will go up against Melbourne Stars at the Sydney Cricket Ground to kick off this season of the BBL.
