Bourne CC - Groundcare Diary – Week ending June 14th 2020
Whilst we are in ‘lockdown’ we are following the Bourne CC Groundcare team (Clive Brown and Ian Greenfield) through the season as their ground maintenance programme progresses throughout the Spring and Summer in readiness for a Return to Cricket.
We caught up with them this week......
Maintenance Work carried out on the Abbey Lawn week ending 14/06 /20
Not a deal to report this week as weather conditions and feeding the square meant keep off.
Monday - Inspect surface, ensuring fertiliser has worked in - all good.
Verticut square in direction of play. Cylinder cut with play to 15mm.
Rolled out No1 strip in preparation for net wicket. Managed to use the heavy roller 3 tons, provides a lovely finish.
Wednesday - Brushed square across direction. Damp conditions so keep off.- A little red thread starting to show so need to get more food on, I was a little conservative last week
Friday - rain stopped play.
Saturday - Cut square to 15mm Spot sprayed the outfield for plantains, might just allow and keep the square at 25mm for the next month.
(Outdoor nets taking place on the artificial pitch this week)
