
Bourne CC - Groundcare Diary – Week ending May 24th 2020
Whilst we are in ‘lockdown’ we are following the Bourne CC Groundcare team (Clive Brown and Ian Greenfield) through the season as their ground maintenance programme progresses throughout the Spring and Summer in readiness for a Return to Cricket.
We caught up with them this week......
Maintenance Work carried out on the Abbey Lawn week ending 24 / 5 / 20
Mon day18th Verticut square across and with direction of play. omitting No 9 and 5 strips
Water reseeded no 9 strip. germination has been good and now growing strongly
Tuesday remove germination sheet from no 5 strip- new grass pushing through nicely. Watered both reseeded strips
Cut out no 2 strip [10mm] for possible net practice use, Scarify, brush up using Sisis and cylinder cut to 8mm, Watered for 8 four hours
Wedneday - watered square using sprinklers omitting No 2 strip.
Rolled out no 2 strip for 3/4 hour
Friday- Cut down no 2 strip to 6mm, rolled for 1/2 hour, [looking good]
Cylinder cut the square to 25mm.[leaving reasonable length for retention of moisture, Outfield becoming very dry, Drainage channels already starting to show. Looking good however.
Lifted cylinder blades and first cut No 9 strip just removing tips of grass, new growth untouched.
Saturday - Verticut No 2 strip across and with direction of play,
Cylinder cut to 6mm and rolled for 15 mins.
Watered reseeded areas.
Watched a couple of the lads in the nets, Using the artificial. Happy days are here again, whilst social distancing of course..
