This year's Burghley Park Cricket Club, sponsored by Hindmarch & Co., will take place from 4th to 8th July and the club are promising it will be bigger and better than last year's event.

Cricket will be the primary focus with games beginning at 10.30am on all five days with teams such as the Authors XI, the Gentlemen of Lincolnshire and the Gentleman of Leicestershire making appearances.

However, it is expected that the evening's sixes competition will draw the biggest crowds when 15 local sides, including Burghley Park themselves, try to prove themselves and win inside five overs.

Oundle Town are making their first appearance in the sixes competition this year and have been drawn against Stamford Town - the reigning champions - in a tough opener.

Each evening, the Buckles Solicitors 'Champagne Moment' award is up for grabs and plenty of players are sure to be vying for that particular accolade - and the bottle of champagne that goes with it.

The Beer Festival now takes pride of place thanks to the well stocked Cabel UK beer tent supplied by Events & Tents, and plenty of real ales are available throughout the week.

Following feedback from last year, the club have set up a second bar, the Oakham Ales bar, in a bid to reduce queues, and there is an upgrade to the food on offer, thanks to Groovy Foods providing the evening catering.

And as a grand finale to the week's action, local band the Hoo Haas will perform to close the event.

Burghley hope the sun will shine and as many people as possible turn out to make this another cricket week to remember.
