Ferguson made 97 in his final Sheffield Shield innings, and while short of a fairy-tale 20th Shield century, he will go down in history as one of South Australia's greatest batsmen.
The West End Redbacks took the game to the final half hour chasing 448 for the win, thanks to Ferguson's knock and Harry Nielsen's second first-class century (114), but Queensland took a 62-run win.
The round completes the South Australia Sheffield Shield 'Hub', which successfully hosted each of the six States.
