Cameron Green inducted into WACA's Test Player Walk
Green was officially inducted into the Western Australian Cricket Association’s Test Player Walk following his Australian Test debut against India in December and spoke with media at the official unveiling.
The tall allrounder has started the 2020-21 Marsh Sheffield Shield season in blistering form and has scored 363 runs at 72.60 through the opening four matches.
Green appears ready to continue to his form with the blade after hammering 201 not out for Subiaco-Floreat in the Alcohol.Think Again Premier Cricket competition against Joondalup last weekend.
Western Australia yesterday announced a 13-player squad for their match against South Australia starting tomorrow, Thursday 25 February at the WACA Ground.
The men from the West went undefeated in their opening four matches of the season and will host the winless South Australia in their first First-Class fixture since early November.
WA are currently unbeaten in seven Shield matches at the WACA Ground and have enjoyed a strong run of dominance over the Redbacks, winning five of their last six fixtures, including a 205-run belting when the sides met in October.
WA ran riot at Karen Rolten Oval on that occasion, as wicketkeeper Josh Inglis smashed an unbeaten 153 in the first innings, before Shaun Marsh cruised to 110 not out in the second to set up the win.
The skipper appears to be playing as well as ever, with his peers voting him the best domestic player in the country for the second season in a row.
The veteran’s scintillating performance on the domestic stage this summer sees him lead WA’s run-scoring in the Shield competition, amassing a staggering 485 runs at 97 from six innings.
At the unveiling, Cameron Green said;
“You look back at the past players to play for WA and there are some that you really look up to, to be part of that group is incredibly humbling and I’m pretty proud of it.
“Playing Test cricket is always a goal that you have in mind but I didn’t think it was going to happen this quickly, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity I was given.
“I’m really keen to get back into the Shield season, the squad is fit and healthy and we’re really looking forward to taking on the Redbacks at home.”
