Canterbury Kings won the toss and decided to bat against Wellington Firebirds at the Basin Reserve, Wellington today.
Canterbury Kings scored a below par 148-8 in their 20 Overs with Jack Boyle 46 top scoring; Hamish Bennett 3-27, Rachin Ravindra 2-30 and Peter Younghusband 2-16 did the damage with the ball for the Firebirds.
In reply, Wellinton Firebirds fell short in the run chase by just 3 runs, scoring 145-9 in their 20 Overs. At three overs to go, it seemed to just a stroll to victory for the Firebirds with 20 runs to win - however, Will Williams had other ideas and in an extraordinary spell of 2 over 5-12 he managed to halt the Firebirds and pull off a remarkable win for the Kings - Devon Conway 51 and Fraser Colson 37 top scored with Will Williams 5-12 and Henry Shipley 2-24 the stars with the ball for the Canterbury Kings.
After this win, Canterbury Kings are in 5th fifth position on 14 points. Wellington Firebirds remain at the top of the Dream11 Super Smash points table.
