Captain Tim Paine spoke to the media after Australia retained the Ashes at Old Trafford, winning the Fourth Test by 185 runs late on the final day.
Australia’s victory gives it an unassailable 2-1 lead in the Five Test series. As holders of the Ashes Australia keep the urn regardless of the result of the fifth and Final Test at The Oval, beginning on Thursday.
It is the first time Australia has retained the Ashes in England since current team mentor Steve Waugh was captain in 2001.
In another high-quality bowling performance Australia dismissed England for 197 with five bowlers claiming wickets, including part time leg-spinner Marnus Labuschagne. Pat Cummins finished with 4-43 from 24 overs.
Australia claimed the first Test at Edgbaston by 251 runs, the second Test at Lord’s ended in a draw and England won the third Test at Headingley by one wicket.
