The fixtures for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 season was announced on Wednesday with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium in the tournament opener on 7th April.

The tournament has been spanned over 51 days and will be played across nine different venues with the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai hosting the final on 27th May.

The first of the 12 double headers will be played on 8th April with Delhi Daredevils hosting Kings XI Punjab at Feroz Shah Kotla while Royal Challengers Bangalore will head to Eden Gardens to take on Kolkata Knight Riders. A total of 48 games will be played at 14:30 GMT while the remaining 12 will be played at 10:00 GMT.

The 11th edition of the tournament also sees the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals franchises after they served a two-year ban for an illegal spot-fixing scandal.

Barring Kings XI Punjab, who have three home games scheduled in Indore while four other in Mohali, the remaining teams will play all their seven home games at their traditional venues.

The venues for Qualifier 1, Eliminator and Qualifier 2 to be played on 22nd, 23rd and 25th May respectively are yet to be finalised.
