Chennai to lose home advantage in IPL due to security concerns
IPL action had recently returned to Chepauk with Chennai Super Kings playing their first game at their home ground in almost three years against Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK got an unparalleled reception at Chennai with a packed crowd which cheered at each run scored by their team.
However, this fanfare of the Chennai crowd would not be seen again this year as the home matches of CSK have been shifted from Chepauk to Pune on account of security threats in the following matches at the venue. This decision was taken after a shoe was hurled during the CSK-KKR match by some miscreants in the crowd at Ravindra Jadeja who was fielding at long on while Faf du Plesis and Lungi Ngidi were in the vicinity.
Having to shift the Home matches from the Den was not something that was on the cards. The Lions will roar in Pune and would like to thank all the Super Fans from the #WhistlePoduArmy for all the #Yellove support. Keep them whistles coming! ????

This comes as a huge setback for the MS Dhoni led side which will now lose their home advantage as CSK have picked many high quality spinners in their squad due to the spin friendly conditions at Chepauk. However, it may not get too bad for CSK as Pune which is set to be their new home ground has almost similar conditions and is also a slow and low scoring ground.
The authorities will shortly begin proceedings of refunding tickets.

This unfortunate incident is not only a pity for the fans but a huge disappointment for the players as well who shared their feelings on social media.
You may take the game out of Chennai, but you can’t take away the passion out of Chennaities ???? Feeling helpless for the thousands of @ChennaiIPL fans. Hopefully, the future endeavours will be dealt in a meaningful manner???#gutted

Very sad for our team @ChennaiIPL and the fans here in Chennai that we won't be playing anymore games here this season. The atmosphere last game was incredible. Let's hope this situation in Tamil Nadu is sorted out asap. ????????????

Sad to be leaving Chennai today. Great to be back and again experience the love and passion the Tamil Nadu fans have for cricket and CSK. I trust a ‘peaceful’ resolution is found soon for the problems at hand. Thanks to everyone for making the team so welcome.
