Cheteshwar Pujara batted superbly for his 123, after India had started poorly, being 41-4 at one stage. At the close of play, India are 250-9 with Pat Cummins 2-49, Mitchell Starc 2-63, Nathan Lyon 2-83 and Josh Hazlewood 2-52 all picking up 2 wickets apiece.
Australia will be pleased, at the end of the first day, to have almost bowled India out for under 260 and India will be thankful that they managed to recover from their poor start, thanks to an outstanding century by Cheteshwar Pujara.
The match is nicely balanced going into day two, with Australia probably with the slight advantage.
