Each county is allowed to play a maximum of two overseas players per match and there have been some eye-catching signings made. Not least that of Hasan Ali, Shan Masood, Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

Counties will be awarded 16 points for a win and five points for a draw. Bonus points can also be scored for making runs and taking wickets. In line with the Bazball theory of making red-ball cricket more fast-paced and entertaining, the points awarded to each team in a draw would be reduced from eight to five.
