The Women's Big Bash League Technical Committee has approved the addition of Courtney Sippel to the Brisbane Heat 13-person squad for today's clash with the Melbourne Renegades in Mackay.

Sippel comes into the squad as a replacement for Haidee Birkett who has been withdrawn with influenza.

The Heat will today be seeking a second win in Mackay for the weekend after recording a 43-run victory over the Adelaide Strikers last night in front of 5650 fans at Great Barrier Reef Arena - the club's biggest crowd for a standalone WBBL match.

Today's match shapes as a crucial one for both teams, with the third-placed Heat (14 points) looking to shore up a spot in the WBBL top four against the fifth-placed Renegades (11 points).
