The 2018 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has been scheduled to be played between 8th August and 16th September.

Unlike the previous season, the Cricket West Indies has not organised any international games for the Caribbean side during this phase, thereby ensuring the franchises a full involvement of the national stars.

The opening round of matches will take place in Trinidad & Tobago with the defending champions Knight Riders in action and Guyana.

Chief Operating Officer of the CPL Pete Russell insisted that the full availability of West Indies international players is a big boost to the competition.

"Here in the Caribbean we are blessed with some of the most exciting cricketers in the world and it is fantastic news that all West Indies players will be available in 2018. It will help make the Biggest Party in Sport even bigger."

CEO of Cricket West Indies Johnny Grave believes the tournament has been scheduled keeping in mind the fixtures of West Indies cricket.

“The Hero CPL is now the start of our domestic season and we are delighted that we have found a window when all of the best cricketers from the Caribbean will be available to take part.

"We are sure that 2018 will be the biggest season yet.”
