Vice-Captain Kurtis Patterson and local wicketkeeper Jack Dooran both scored impressive centuries as the Cricket Australia XI declared at 5-316 on day one of their three-day tour match against Sri Lanka, at Blundstone Arena, Tasmania.

Patterson’s 157* from 212 deliveries was the performance of the day, leading the hosts to a total of 316 from 75 overs, before Sri Lanka hit the crease to score 0-38 in reply, from 13 overs before stumps.

Doran at No.7 was the next best contributing 102* off 129 delivers, forming a strong 218 run partnership with Patterson.

Captain Joe Burns (4) won the toss and elected to bat, but he and fellow opener Renshaw (7) fell early along with Labuschagne (6), as the CA XI slipped to 3-25 in the 11th over.

20-year-old Pucovksi then joined Patterson at the crease for a solid 63 run partnership, before departing for 23 runs after a catch in the deep.

Bowlers Dushmantha Chameera (3-57) and Kasun Rajitha (2-71) claimed multiple wickets for Sri Lanka.

Play will resume tomorrow at 2.00pm AEDT.
