Cricket Betting: Punters Rooting For Joe
After the 95-run defeat to India in the second Test at Lord's, Alastair Cook's captaincy is under threat, if those putting money on Joe Root to replace him are to be believed.
William Hill report that Root has been backed in from 9/2 to 3/1 to become the next England captain and that Cook is 4/6 to not be captain by 1st October.
However, Ian Bell remains 7/4 favourite to be England's next captain - whenever that might be.
"Root seems to be the public’s choice and he is our worst result with some 65% of wagers on the young man," said William Hill spokesman and cricket betting expert Rupert Adams.
