The 1st match of Men's Hundred will be played between Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals at Kia Oval on Thursday July 22nd 2021.
England's centrally-contracted Test players in the Oval Invincibles' ranks are Sam Curran and Rory Burns. Sunil Narine (West Indies), Tabraiz Shamsi (South Africa) and Colin Ingram (South Africa) are their overseas players.
It will be fascinating to see Narine and Shamsi bowl in tandem. The two are very miserly and pick up loads of wickets at the same time.
Despite Sam Curran and Rory Burns off to the India Tests, there is no dearth of talent in the side with Tom Curran, Reece Topley, Alex Blake, Jason Roy, Nathan Sowter, Sam Billings, Laurie Evans, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Brandon Glover, Jordan Clark and Jordan Cox in their ranks.
Manchester Originals have one centrally-contracted Test player in Jos Buttler. Buttler celebrated his return to fitness with an explosive half-century against Pakistan in the 2nd T20I and has the potential to win a couple of matches that he'll play first up on his own.
Originals' overseas players include Lockie Ferguson (New Zealand), Carlos Brathwaite (West Indies) and Colin Munro (New Zealand). Both Ferguson and Brathwaite have been in good form in the Blast. Ferguson's pace will be an X-factor.
Phil Salt and Matt Parkinson showed what they are capable of against Pakistan. Steven Finn, Colin Ackermann, Ollie Robinson, Sam Hain and Fred Klaassen are proven performers.
Manchester Originals - Jos Buttler, Joe Clarke, Phil Salt, Matt Parkinson, Lockie Ferguson, Jamie Overton, Tom Lammonby, Steven Finn, Colin Ackermann, Richard Gleeson, Tom Hartley, Carlos Brathwaite, Colin Munro, Ollie Robinson, Sam Hain, Fred Klaassen
