The 2nd Test of the two-match series between New Zealand and Pakistan will be played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch in New Zealand.
Live Scores and Stats - 2nd Test New Zealand v Pakistan
While New Zealand will have an eye on the series victory, the other would be on the World Test Championship. If New Zealand manage to win this test match and take the series 2-0, they will earn another 60 valuable points and will be well placed to make it to the final of the World Test Championship 2019-21 at Lord's this year.
It won't be as easy though as it was against the likes of West Indies. Pakistan showed in the first test match that they would not go down without a fight.
Stand-in skipper Mohd Rizwan was sensational with the bat and scored crucial half-centuries in both the innings. Faheem Ashraf rose to the occasion with a brilliant 91 in the first things.
But the star of the show for Pakistan was Fawad Alam who scored 102 off 269 deliveries including 14 fours and batted at a strike rate of 37.9 to keep Pakistan in the game for a long time. He was only dismissed in the final session of the test match.
Pakistan are expected to go with an unchanged playing XI with Babar Azam officially ruled out.
New Zealand will replace the injured Neil Wagner with Matt Henry. The Kiwis are likely to stick with Mitchell Santner after the amount of bowling the spinner did in the first test match. If the conditions are totally in the favour of pace bowlers, pace-bowling all-rounder Daryl Mitchell can also be included.
Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams:
New Zealand - Tom Latham, Tom Blundell, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (wk), Mitchell Santner, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult
Pakistan - Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Rizwan (c & wk), Faheem Ashraf, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah
