The first match of the three-match Test series on the New Zealand tour of Australia will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Australia is currently suffering from severe bushfires which has led to to some difficult playing conditions in the country. The temperatures in Perth, where the first match is scheduled to be played, are expected to be extremely hot, especially for the first three days with temperatures exceeding 40 degree centigrade.

Like the last Test against Pakistan, this will also be a date-night Test match played with the pink ball, which will present its own set of challenges for the players. It is an evident disadvantage for New Zealand that they have not had any time to prepare with the pink ball, not even a practice match, which is certainly not ideal. It gives the Australian team an advantage with them having just played a pink ball Test.

David Warner and Joe Burns will continue to open the batting for Australia with Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith following. If the top order gets off to a good start, Matthew Wade and Travis Head then have the responsibility of getting some quick runs.

Their bowling quartet of Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon is untouched and possibly the best in world cricket at the moment.

After failures in the series against England, Kiwi opener Jeet Raval will be under some pressure as Tom Blundell is sitting out to have a go at the opening spot alongside Tom Latham. Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, BJ Watling and Henry Nicholls form their middle order.

Lockie Ferguson might finally make his Test debut in this match due to the quick nature of the pitch in Perth. Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme are likely to be back in the playing XI after missing out in the second Test against England due to injury.

Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams:

Australia - Matthew Wade, David Warner, Tim Paine (c & wk), Steven Smith, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Joe Burns, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne

New Zealand - Ross Taylor, Tim Southee/Lockie Ferguson, BJ Watling (wk), Neil Wagner, Kane Williamson (c), Colin de Grandhomme, Trent Boult, Tom Latham, Mitchell Santner, Jeet Raval, Henry Nicholls
