However, after the return of the international stars, they have picked up once again and somehow found a place in the semi-final after winning seven of their 14 league matches. They caused an upset in the semi-final by beating title contenders Hobart Hurricanes.
Melbourne Stars decided to back pacer Daniel Worrall and he proved his worth by picking up four wickets and conceding less than 6 runs per over. He broke the back of the Hobart Hurricanes batting by picking up early wickets and utilising the swinging ball to the fullest.
Marcus Stoinis has been sensational for the side since his return and is on the verge of scoring 500 runs. He also has 14 wickets to go along with it. Glenn Maxwell has also shone since his return and hit 82 from just 43 balls against Melbourne Stars to reach the semi-finals and then scored 43 against Hobart Hurricanes in the last match.
Melbourne Renegades replaced Mohammad Nabi with Cameron White after Nabi returned to Afghanistan same. Aaron Finch and Sam Harper have been the leading batsmen for the side both of whom came good in the semi-final. Dane Christian and Cameron Boyce are now their leading all-rounders while Kane Richardson with 24 wickets is their most exciting bowler.
