On the contrary, things are looking grim for Perth Scorchers who have been able to win just one match out of the six games and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. They have to turn things around quickly in order to stand a chance of qualify to the knockout round.
Melbourne Stars will go through stock changes as four of their key players in Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa and Peter Handscomb have been included in the Australian ODI squad for the series against India. To add to that, wrist-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has also left off for the Bangladesh Premier League.
This leaves the remaining players to step up to the plate. Liam Plunkett will be a part of the final XI along with spinner Michael Beer. If Jackson Coleman misses out like the last two matches, Jackson Bird will replace him. Liam Bowe will join the team in the place of Adam Zampa. Dwayne Bravo is a key player for the team with his wealth of experience.
While the bowling of Perth Scorchers has been decent, it is their batting that has let them down. Apart from Ashton Turner who has 197 runs from six matches and Hilton Cartwright, to some extent, no other batsman has contributed. Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Coulter-Nile will lead their bowling attack.
Melbourne Stars- Ben Dunk, Jonathan Merlo, Seb Gotch, Dwayne Bravo, Nick Larkin, Evan Gulbis, Liam Plunkett, Jackson Coleman, Scott Boland, Liam Bowe, Michael Beer
