Both South Africa and Sri Lanka will take the field for the first time in the ICC Women's World T20.
Sri Lanka's fixture with England was washed out due to rain at St Lucia and the venue being the same for this match as well, the chances of a similar result cannot be completely ruled out.
South Africa is ranked at No 6 in the ICC T20 rankings but that does not precisely reflect the talent that they possess. Dane van Niekerk and Lizelle Lee have been in red-hot form for the Proteas. Dane van Niekerk, especially, is renowned for her all-round acumen and can also use the long handle. The team would be counting on her as they clash against Sri Lanka.
Another thing that goes in South Africa's favour is that they have just played a bilateral series against West Indies. That must have made them well acquainted with the conditions.
For Sri Lanka to do well, a lot depends on capitan Chamari Athapaththu. So much responsibility can often burden a player, even of Athapaththu's class.
Dilani Manodara and Yasoda Mendisthe are the other key players in their batting line up. Shashikala Siriwardene would be instrumental for the Lankans with both bat and ball.
That being said, all of this remains relevant only if the rain gods are merciful enough. Look at apexbettingsites.co.uk and check the weather forecast, because with DLS, the odds can change dramatically.
Let's have a look at the squads of both teams.
