On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi lost to Quetta Gladiators in their first match of the season inspite of Wahab Riaz shinning for the team. He picked up two wicket while conceding just 18 runs. Riaz has been in good form and was the second highest-wicket taker in the last year's tournament with 18 wickets. He also bowled well for the Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League.
Kamran Akmal has also been in fine form of late in the National T20 cup and played a good hand of 49. Despite being 44 years of age, Misbah-ul-Haq also struck 49. Among the bowlers, apart from Riaz, Hasan Ali is a potential threat.
Lahore Qalandars will be hoping that Mohammad Hafeez's thumb injury is not serious or else the all-rounder will miss the next few games. The team has preferred Hardus Viljoen over Carlos Brathwaite and it looks as if the two would be completing for one spot.
The Qalandars also have the firepower of Fakhar Zaman who scored a blistering 65 in the opening match. Sohail Akhtar and AB de Villiers are the two mainstays of the team's batting lineup. Among the bowlers, Haris Rauf and Rahat Ali have already picked a four-wicket haul each and are looking in ominous rhythm.
