In a heartbreak for Durham and manna from heaven for Lancashire, the latter managed to qualify for the the quarter finals after Durham's last match was washed out.

Lancashire, while having the same number of points (10) as Durham despite a lower net run-rate, qualified for the quarters and Durham were left stranded. It was Lancashire who had won one more match than Durham, which is the criteria for qualification.

Placed at the second spot in the south group points table with six wins and two losses from eight matches, Middlesex will face Lancashire in the quarter final to be played at Lord's in London.

In a ridiculously high-scoring match, Middlesex piled up 380 runs on the board in their last league match played against Kent. Max Holden was the star for the team as he smashed 166 runs from just 139 deliveries at a strike rate of almost 120. Ross Taylor also played a good hand and scored a valuable 94.

Toby Roland-Jones, James Harris, Nathan Sowter and Tom Helm then ensured that Kent fell short of the target by 33 runs. James Harris was the most impressive among the four bowlers and picked up four wickets, while conceding runs at an economy under seven.

Lancashire played their last league match against Warwickshire, which they lost by five wickets. Lancashire posted 277 runs on the board on the back of an 83 run-knock from captain Dane Vilas. Stephen Croft and Saqib Mahmood also scored 45 each.

Despite a breathtaking spell of bowling by James Anderson, with figures of 9-2-21-3, Warwickshire won the match by five wickets after it was reduced to 45 overs as per the DLS method.

Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams.
