While the Kings have been able to win just one game and are at the bottom of the team charts, Otago Volts are just one place above them with two wins. In the last encounter that both teams were part of, Otago Volts won the match by five wickets on the back of Hamish Rutherford's half-century.
Canterbury Kings have been hit by the absence of four international stars in Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Matt Henry and Todd Astle. Although they have the league's highest wicket-taker in Kyle Jamieson, his record is mostly shaped up by the six-wicket haul he picked up against Auckland Aces. Edward Nuttall has supported him well through the tournament.
However, their major problem has been the lack of runs which has led to their downfall time and again. Their leading run-getter is Cole McConchie who has 222 runs from eight innings while Chad Bowes has scored 164 runs.
Neil Broom was the top-scorer for Otago Volts in the last match as he smashed 65 runs from just 34 balls. Broom stitched a partnership with Hamish Rutherford who scored 44 from 28.
On the whole, Anaru Kitchen has been their top run-getter who is a few runs short of reaching the 200 run mark. Among the bowlers, Christi Viljoen and Jacob Duffy have lead the way with 10 wickets each.
