Mohammad Nabi also played a skipper's knock of 43 in 22 balls. Due to the duo's brilliant batting, Afghanistan got to a total of 170 for 5 in 20 overs.

During the chase, Wesley Madhevere and Craig Ervine lost their wickets early on in the innings. Innocent Kaia made a good looking 54 in 57 balls. His strike rate however impacted the run rate during the chase. Tadiwanashe Marumani scored 30 off 22 balls. The real fight was shown by veteran Sikandar Raza, who smashed 41 off 21 balls but he failed to take Zimbabwe over the line as they were restricted to 149 for 7 in 20 overs, and Afghanistan won the match by 21 runs.
