The 1st match of the Cricket Ireland Inter-Provincial Series 2021 IP20 will take place between Leinster Lightning and Munster Reds at the Pembroke Cricket Club, Dublin.

The teams will now play T20 matches over the weekend with double headers reserved for each of the three days of the weekend.

Current Form Leinster Lightning:

Leinster Lightning have been in a terrific form off late. They won the last fixture against North West Warriors by 4 wickets.

Bowling first, Leinster Lightning bowled North West Warriors out for a low total of 231. William Porterfield made 33 off 35 before being dismissed by Simi Singh. Stephen Doheny didn't impress either as he lost his wicket for 11. Andy Mcbrine at number 3 played a useful knock of 72 but he never found the right support at the other end to take his team to a respectable total. Shane Getkate disappointed with his effort of 1 off 2 balls. It was Nathan McGuire at number 9 who played a vital cameo of 53 to provide the boost needed in the end to North West Warriors before they were bowled out for 231.

Leinster Lightning got off to a terrible start losing both Kevin O'Brein and Jack Tector within the first 6 overs. Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker tried to revive the innings in the middle order but Tucker was unfortunately dismissed through a dramatic runout for 18. George Dockrell came to the crease at number 5 and stitched an important stand of 123 runs for the 4th wicket to being Leinster Lightning in a comfortable position. Andrew Balbirnie held one end intact and ensured that he stayed unbeaten to take the team home by 4 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

Current Form Munster Reds:

Munster Reds have once again lost their last match against North West Warriors.

Batting first, Munster Reds batted wonderfully to put on a huge total of 289 for 6 in 50 overs. Murray Commins was the top run scorer with 79 runs to his name. Captain Tyrone Kane also batted well for his 78 off just 68 deliveries. He smashed 4 fours and 5 maximums in his aggressive knock. In the end, it was Matt Ford and Fionn Hand's quick fire partnership of 64 runs that propelled Munster Reds to a formidable total of 289.

Half way through the innings, Munster Reds looked completely on top of North West Warriors.

Chasing 289, North West Warriors started off very well with the opening pair of William Porterfield and Stephen Doheny putting on 74 runs for the first wicket. Doheny was dismissed at 28 while Porterfield held one end and did not throw his wicket away. Andy Mcbrine and Kyle Magee could not trouble the scorers much and were dismissed cheaply.

Shane Getkate played well for his 24 run knock but the real belief was given by Graham Kennedy in the lower middle order who smashed 52 off 48 balls and played a good partner in William Porterfield to bring North West Warriors closer to the target. Porterfield made 110 off 123 balls. After Porterfield was dismissed, Nathan McGuire at number 7 smashed 23 off 10 balls to seal the deal and North West Warriors chased the total comfortably in the 48th over with 4 wickets in hand.
